700r4 front seal install help

yeah ok so i hear your supposed to tap it in evenly with a hammer? everytime i tap the other side the part that's pressed down just pops back up? what the hell i even held it down with my finger but I just ended up bending the outer part a little bit with the hammer from hitting it too much. is there an easier way to do this?? I can't see how this method is possible at all.

I normally go over to the drawer in my box holding the 3/4" and 1" drive sockets and pull one that fits on the seal and tap on the socket... it helps drive the seal evenly. it's worked for me so far.
