700r4 holding gears way too long

my current rig is a 92 chevy 2500 with a solid axle conversion, the trans just started acting funny. i can leave one stop sign and it will shift correctly and firm, then leave the next sign or light and it will hold first to about 35, second till 45, third till 65. the tv cable is not tight. fluid is were is should be, and is not burnt. im lost lol

Sounds like a problem with the TV/ThrottleValve, binding/sticking. Usually worse after the Trans gets warm/hot. Can cause high/firm or low/soft shift points.

Sometimes giving the TV cable several quick jerks & releases with Engine idling can free it up or clear trash/debri causing the binding.

i played with the tv cable, i got it adjusted right and it was working fine. however it went back to the first problem about 20 miles down the road. i have a feeling the teeth that hold it in place are broke or worn to it wont stay in place very long.

Ratchet teeth on the adjuster worn?
Need a new TV Cable.
TV Cable adjustment >> http://purplesagetradingpost.com/sum...o/700R4p1.html

Driving it with the TV Cable too loose can burn the Trans clutches.
