700r4 iden codes

the one i pulled out had 2 litters ya the one i put in had mzm is this a 4l60e and will not work, little more info the ya is out of 1984 full size wagon the new trans has the identification code of mzm the old trans was ya i read that two letter codes or 700r4 the three letter code is 4l60 just trying to find out if there is 4l60 and a 4l60e i know the 4l60 will not work the problem is what trans do i have

You don't make any sense, the 4l60e will bolt up and is basically the same inside, but the electronic controls on it are going to be impossible to make work without an aftermarket computer.

Why switch from the 700 anyways? Its a good transmission, we build at least 2 4l60e's a week.

Here is my take on the above statement.
The transmission that I removed from my car has this letter code on it, "YA".
I purchased a transmission that has the letter code "MZM" on it. Is this transmission a 4L60E? and will it work in my car?

the trans is out of a 84 full size wagon

the new trans i think is a 88 model unknow but it"s going to the shop today thank s for the help

how do u tell a 700r4 from the 4L60

IS THERE A 4L60 AND A 4L60E trans's how do u tell them apart that is is what i am trying to find out and the name of a book on these trans and the ford 4r55e trans thank

the 4L60 has a electrical connector on the drivers side behind / above the shifter linkage, it is square with 4 holes in it.

4L60E has an electrical connector on the passenger side. About 1.25 inches round, several contact pins in it.

ATSG manuals are very good for these trannys mentioned..... Google ASTG manual... there will be many links for you to explore.

now something on ford trans

1996 explorer V6 4r55e trans is slipping 2 to3 i tighten the 3to 4 band 1/2 turn it helped some but , someone tells me it could be servo seals need replaced what do u think or should i replace the trans,
