sorry guy, but with the limited info you provided and no pics to show what youre talking about, theres no way of telling you whats happened or what to do about it.
their are needle bearings from somewhere in between the sun gear and input drum and it cut about 1/32 of a inch maybe less out of the input drum do i have to replace the input drum or can i use it
you need to dig deeper. theres a front planetary that goes under the input drum. either youre seeing needles from the roller bearings from the planet or a roller type washer has failed.
as far as what you see on the input drum. it does look pretty gouged but, as long as what you see is on the outside, i dont think its that big of a deal to reuse. maybe just hit it with some sand paper to smooth it out.
its not as bad as it looks you cant realy feel how deep it is its super shallow i didnt wat to take the trans down any more until i made sure i can still use these parts. I dont know where these needle bearing came from today i will go take the input gear out thin the sun gear and hope to see just a bad bearing that i can replace.
update look at these sun gears its the input and small sun gear
if these are like that what is the rest of it going to look like and i still dont know where these small needle bearings came from P.S. them gears are $63 for both of them
yea they want like 800 for a trans around here i dont know if i can get a blown trans from any junk year but i do have a 86 700r4 trans in my car now i guess im going to have to make a franken trans
ok i have the transmission all apart and still cant find any needle bearings or needle bearing case where did these come from can they get from the torque converter into the trans
yep after taking the trans all apart that is the only thing wrong them gears so i will rebuild what i can thin pull the 86 700r4 out of my car and get them gears out of their
ok i realy need help now i was looking online and found that i cant switch the 82-86 700r4 front planetary into my 91 700r4 any one know if thats right i hope not low on cash and the longer it stays in pieces the more likly i will lose something.
no i have a atsg video from along time ago i think its from the 80's and it says that the 82-86 planetarys wont work in the 87-93 their different sizes
