Use the 4th gear pulse switch on the valve body to control solenoid function.
Depending on the type of solenoid wiring, you can control either the 12v+ or ground side. If there are 2 wires on the solenoid itself, use the ground side of the solenoid (black wire). Use a one prong 4th gear pulse switch wired to the ground side of the solenoid. 4th gear pressure will ground the switch, thus the solenoid will be grounded. If there is one wire to the solenoid, use a 2 prong 4th gear switch and split the power (12v+) thru the switch. One prong to the 12v+ source, the second to the solenoid. 4th gear pressure will close the switch providing power to the solenoid. The solenoid is grounded at the solenoid frame (made that way). These scenarios work every time.

I used a TCI 376600 kit in my TH700R4. It was around $100 I think.

This eliminates the need for an ECM to control converter lock-up.

TCI web site is http://www.tciauto.com.

The kit comes with Internal and external wiring harness and plug.
A vacuum switch.
A 4th gear pressure switch.
And good instructions. (Rare)

It works good. The metered vacuum from the Holly carb is just right for my setup.

Any of the kits will work on 4th gear lockup. I've seen them on Ebay for 15 bucks and Painless sells a super kit for $120. All that is really needed is a 4th gear pressure switch sending a signal to the lockup solonoid. You're current 700 should have both in it already and you can set it up without spending any money if you like.

Here are a few different ways to do it.
