700r4 lockup engaged directly after shift into second??

My 700r4 transmission when shifting from first to second will shift, then quickly go into lockup. This does not depend on amount of acceleration.
What i am worried about is when i am accelerating hard it slides into lockup with a 200-300 rpm drop.
Will this wear things out in the tranny?
is this normal 700r4 behavior?
should i get a vacuum switch to prevent lockup at high vacuum?

I grow a bit tired of you asking the same question over & over.

you had the trans built by some college kids?

IF it locks up in 2nd gear each shift to 2nd gear.... change the wires inside.

You posted that IF you unplug the wires it does not lock up in 2nd gear?

Find someone to help you Change the wires inside.

You have the operation of the vacuum switch backwards.... at high vacuum the most common switch used is closed ( converter locks up).

you need someone to assist you to set this trans lockup operation correctly... it is difficult to know how the kids wired up the solenoid inside. Or they may have installed a ckeck ball in the snout of the solenoid.
'
Have you pulled the pan off to inspect?

Perhaps a lock up kit from Jegs or Summit may help you?

I apologise for asking the same type of questions over and over, but i just want to make sure my current setup will not damage the transmission. ( trying to get a clear answer on damage potential)

Im not trying to keep it from locking up in second, otherwise i would just leave the switch off.
what i am wondering is if i leave the switch on (allowing it to lock up in second right after shifting) will it damage the transmission.

I just assume not change anything, except if there is a potential for damage to be done by the way it is currently set up.

BTW thanks for all the help

here is my quote from another thread of the same question you asked;

Quote:
reason you do not want lock up during a shift. This is a harsh shift and will damage the inner turbine spring loaded hub of the converter.
Does your trans unlock the converter clutch for the 2-3 shift? For the 3-4 shift?

the converter clutch should not be locked up during a shift. Locking up after a shift is the desired setup.

IF you have a converter clutch lockup at WOT when the trans shifts to 2nd gear , the spring loaded hub inside the converter will not last long. It also might burn the friction material of the clutch too
