700r4 Lurches forward when in neutral
Why does my car want to move forward if I put it in Neutral and rev the engine over 3000 RPM?
This is in my Vette and I have noticed that several times I will drop into neutral and rev the motor that the car will lurch forward like its trying to go into gear. It only does this if the RPMs are over 3000 rpm. The linkage seems right and all of the gears line up correctly. |

In a word, leakage.
The fluid which builds up pressure is leaking past check valves and spring loaded ball bearings and the fluid is applying pressure to the clutches. So, why are you revving it to over 3000 rpm if it is doing this? Your like the guy who works in a saw mill who says, Every time I stick my finger out like this.....whoops, there goes another finger....". |

I have a tunnel ram setup on the car and it doesn't have a choke so to keep it running sometimes I have to drop it in to neutral and rev the engine.
