700r4 no over drive

just got a transmission from junk yard 7oor and put it in shifts though all gears but wont go into overdrive at all i have adjusted the tv cable all ways that i know how is there anything that i am missing cause it is killing me in gas not having overdrive any body please help my wallet would really thank you

year, make , model, mileage on this vehicle? With a junk yard trans , it can be a crap shoot if it works correctly

The trans can not be shifting all gears if it does not go into over drive.

In a 700r4 trans there will be 3 shifts from a complete stop. 1 - 2 shift, 2 - 3 , then 3 - 4 .. Converter lock up would happen too IF the proper electrical connections are made
