700r4 oil leak
I finally have a 700r4 that shifts and behaves like It was supposed to. It only took two rebuilds and about 900 dollars in parts. Before I started this project I noticed a oil leak at the back at the pan. I thought to my self.. the rebuild should take care of that and gave it no further thought. Boy...was I wrong! It leaks in reverse. On the top right in front of where the transfer case attatches and a little bit toward the right a little bit of oil comes out when in reverse. The case either has a porosity or a small crack. My question is.....Can this be kinda fixed with a good prep and jb weld or am I wasting time. Instead should I look for a prepared case from a rebuilder or what. Any Ideas would be appreciated. Thankyou in advance

man you had some bad luck huh?
the 700R4 is an easy trans to rebuild and you can get them cheap at any pick n pull for 80 bucks what i would do is get a good core and use all your parts just make sure its around the same year as yours because gm changed them a few times. you can also get a new case from just about any trans shop for 125 bucks. |
