700r4 Problem

I have a 91 Chevy Silverado....350 tbi / 700r4. I recently bought the truck as a donor for the motor and tranny for my sons truck.
The truck shifts perfectly when driving normal. But if you give it full throttle it goes and when it should shift it just slips. I can let off and it will shift. Also if I am in 3-4 and give it full throttle it kicks down and then slips sending the rpms in dangerous territory. Yesterday I replaced the filter and the fluid, but that didnt help.
I have only driven the truck maybe 20 miles since I have owned it. And I didn't floor it when I bought it. He said the transmission was rebuilt a couple of years ago and I believe him, and like I said, driving normally...no problem. Only slips when you go wide open throttle.
Any one ever had this problem??? Could it be the TV cable. I have never had this before. I can't find any similar issues doing internet searches.

did you set the TV cable correctly and verify pressures?

Could be that 3-4 clutch pack is going south too, very common on the 700.

I set the TV cable by pushing the release button (D shaped) and slid the sleeve all the way in towards the firewall. Then I got in and pushed the gas pedal all the way to to the floorboard. I read somewhere that is how you do it.
I have not checked the pressures nor do I know how to....yet~!

How do I check them....and what should they be when I do?
What would I do if I found them to be low?

I appreciate you helping me.

I'm hoping some of the tranny guys join in here.

On the TV cable, it sounds like you did it correctly. You might want to have a local trans shop ck it out before romping on it any more. It doesn't take too many overspeeds on the clutches to totally fry them.
