Huh? What tranny? You're right though in the TV vs Detent thing. Most people call any cable a 'detent/kickdown' cable. TV is Throttle Valve. Get it wrong and you'll lose line pressure, perhaps at the shift point, or while under load, which is no good whatever. Best thing to do is adhere to the specific transmission's proper adjustment for such cables. Some aftermarket intakes and carbs also require linkage pieces or brackets for proper geometry for same.
