Post 700r4 problems

help, I have kitted this damn thing twice now and still can't get it right.

this time I put a complete kit in and a B&M shift kit and a corvette style 2.4 servo kit.

Problems no reverse (very weak)

no throttle down shift

low pressure in all functions (50-65)

Any ideas?

The reverse actuator clutch pack was about three thousands too short is this enuf to be a problem?

Shane,

The 3-4 clutches are the first thing to take a dump in the 700. Did you change the thin 2" diameter o-ring in the forward clutch drum when you built it? Sometimes the check ball (slightly bigger than .250") will fall out of the check valve in the reverse circuit in the case when you pull the valve body, and cause a slip in reverse. The clearance on the reverse clutch pack on the 700 is not very fussy as long as you are in the ballpark, I don't think thats where your problem is, I'd be looking at that 55-60 line pressure. Probably due to a missasswembled pressure regulator valve in the pump, or something like that. That will affect just about every function on that unit.

yes it sounds like the regulator is wrong. did you check the pump before you started? they are a constant source of trouble.
