700r4 rebuilding questions

Hi. I'm in the process of rebuilding my 700r4. It's out of a later model AWD Astro van, 91 i beleive.
I ordered the complete TCI rebuild kit from summit, and am 85% completed the rebuild. I noticed my trans had only 6 clutch discs and 5 steels (iirc) for the 3-4 pack. The TCI kit includes 9 friction discs and 9 steel discs.
Now, since my 3-4 clutch pack was badly burnt, and all the discs were warped, I couldn't compare the height of the stack to the TCI ones. I went ahead and put in 2 extra friction discs and 2 extra steel discs, this brought the stack up to where It should be, close to the retaining ring with the thicker retaining plate installed. So right now I should have 7 steels and 8 frictions in the 3-4 pack.

My question is, will this work fine, being there are more discs than stock?

One more thing, it looks like i have an extra stack of friction discs that came with the kit, what would these be for?

thanks

stack as many of the 3-4 frictions that will fit , you want .045 to .070 clearance in that clutch pack.

You should be able to fit 9 frictions and 8 steels in the 3-4 clutch with the proper pressure plate at each end.
