700R4 shifting problem

I have a 1983 700R4 that I put into a 1927 Roadster 350 engine shifts great from first to second and drags from second to first. What can be the problem?

700 R4

I meant to say it drags from second to third. If you back off the gas then step on the gas again it will shift

So it doesn't want to shift 2nd to 3rd? A delayed shift or hanging up in 2nd gear.
May be the TV/ThrottleValve binding/sticking in the Valvebody. With the Engine idling give the TV cable a dozen or so full pulls & let it snap back, then readjust the TV cable & test.
