700r4 shifting problems
I have a 1989 gmc 4x4 with the 350 engine and a 700r4 the trans got water in it and now will not shift out of first gear and I already changed the filter what could be the problem so I can fix it

Depending on how long the water was in there, it could have caused several problems. As mentioned already, water seperates the glue that holds the friction material to the steel backing plates. The other big possibility is rust. The 700 uses a cast iron valve body and has steel valves. A valve could have stuck. It's also possib;e that the governor has stuck. How did you get the water out of it?
