700R4 shifting problems

I'm new to this board, but joined in hopes that someone could offer some help/suggestions. Have a 700R4 hooked to a 383 stroker motor in a 69 C-10. The TV cable is adjusted right ( I think) because the trans shifts crisply in the ranges it should under moderate throttle. The problem occurs under WOT, the thing sssslides into the next gear, not a firm shift. Anybody know whats wrong?

Hi Hotrodpickup,

Is the trans stock or have you had it built up? If you feel everythhing is strong in trans go back and recheck your TV adjustment, pop up the retainer and accelerate to WOT (engine off of course) and then clamp down retainer. You can miss this adjustment pretty easy if you don't get WOT.

The trans is rebuilt, to what level I don't know. Has a 2500 stall converter. I did not adjust at WOT so I will try your suggestion. Thanks for the help.

Try Installing A Corvette Or Billett Servo This Will Crisp Up The Shift

Shifting Problem

A corvette servo should be installed and there are springs you can put in the 1-2 and 3-4 accumulators that will help a great deal and will take care of the slide problem if the clutches are good
