700r4 Slipping In Drive

i BOUGHT A 700R4 USED THE GUY SWORE THAT IT WAS GOOD. PUT IT IN AND IT MAKES A BANGING NOISE AN IT SLIPS IN DRIVE JUST ENOUGH TO NOTICE OTHER THAT THAT IT DRIVES FINE. i DID READJUST THE DETENT CABLE BUT IT STILL IS DOING IT ANY ADVICE OTHER THAN A REBUILD. i AM TAKING IT TO AMCO TO BE CHECKED OUT TUESDAY THANKS

Change Filter
Smell for burnt fluid
Check fluid level at operating temp and in park
Push "Caps Lock" button once.

That cable on a 700R4 is NOT a detent cable, it's a TV cable and it absolutely is the life of a 700R4. If is not adjusted properly it will fry the 700R4 in very short order.

fluid is fine tv cable is fine.
