700r4 slow / delayed 3-2 downshift

Hi,
Back again with the continuing journey on my 700r4. Ive removed my TCI manual valve body after my recent rebuild, as the line pressures were still very high (250+psi at idle) with harsh shifts. Anyone with an ounce of mechanical sympathy would of done the same thing.

I refitted my original auto VB, which had a transgo JR shift kit fitted (not by me, so no instructions and no 'spare' springs etc).
Box operation much nicer now and pressures back to normal, although it now seems to have a very slow or delayed 3-2 downshift and kickdown. If you floor the throttle at around 35MPH, it will eventually kick down to 2nd but it takes quite a few seconds, by time its changed down, the car has accelerated so much in 3rd that 2nd is only engaged for a short while. It's also the same if i manually go from 3 to 2, takes several seconds to change down.
I dont recall it doing that before, the only difference being that I left the .500' boost valve in the pump, the one that I removed measures about .425' perhaps that's upsetting the timing?

before refitting the pan, i checked that i had full TV at WOT.

did you reuse the separator plate from the full manual v-body? It will not function correctly with an automatic v-body.

If you used the correct plate , need to check for the hole for the TV bleed/equalizing... needs to be .055 -.060 for faster response.

check the 2 small MTV valves... MTV up & MTV down. If one or both are stuck the tranny will act stoopid

free, easy movement of all shift valves is something to check

Yes, I refitted the original separator plate.

Ive just received a copy of the instructions from transgo. On step 2, it says to make a note of the boost valve. Mine was .422 before i removed it, but I left the .500 one place in after refitting the auto VB.

On page 2, step3:"line bias valve" - it says to match the spring colour to the size of the boost valve, so presumably my spring is the one matched to the original .422 valve (i.e. blue not pink)

Could this cause my symptoms, should i try refitting the .422 boost valve before removing the VB for inspection?

And if I do remove the VB, could you clarify which hole i'm looking for in this statement:
"need to check for the hole for the TV bleed/equalizing... needs to be .055 -.060 for faster response"

Many thanks,
Eliot.
