700R4 Slow to shift into Reverse

If this is a common problem does anyone know what's happening. It seems worse when vehicle is cold. 1986 Chev Silverado 305.

what is the history of this tranny?

original mileage on it? Has it been rebuilt before?

there are two areas in the trans that can cause a no / weak reverse.

Sounds like hard internal seals since it is worse when cold
