700r4 stator spline wear

Pictures are as accurate as seeing in person but... should it be replaced?

Yes, that needs to be replaced. Make sure you get one with Hardened splines. Many of the older model Stators were not. The hardened Splines will look Blue/Blackened.
It should be pressed in/out, also it should be checked to make sure it's perpendicular to the Pump Body.
Pump, Body & Stator Info here about 1/2 down Pg. 2004R & 700R4 use the same type Pump.
