hello, i have a 1984 700r4 from a corvette. i need to know if i can swap the tail section off this and put a non vette tail section on ? the trans mounts are totally different. please no tire kickers, some one must have this info. thank you for your help.

don't know if I am a tire kicker;

any 700r4 tail housing will bolt on ......... BUT A vette tail hosuing is shorter than a standard tail housing

If you have a real vette tranny , the output shaft has been cut a little shorter than a standard output shaft. This is fine, the shaft will just be right at the end of the tail housing seal, all is good.

the speed-O gear clip on a vette tranny is located in the rear hole of the TWO holes on the output shaft.... with a NON vette tail housing the speed-O gear must be moved to the front hole. Don't move it and the gears tear themselves up

IF you have a vette tranny case , you need the tail hosuing with the mount holes on it.

hang onto the vette tail housing, people buy them $$
