700R4 tranny shifting questions
I have a new 700R4 tranny and I'm not sure the overdrive is engaging. When I drop it into the bottom and manually push the lever forward, it seems to shift through the 4 gears. But when I shift from neutral (back one notch) and just mildly accelerate it only shifts 3 times.
What am I missing? Is the overdrive engaging? I have 4.11 rear end gears and traveling down the road at approximately 65-70 mph it is running at 3000 rpms. Is this normal? Thanks.

Sounds like its ok to me. If you start in the first position down from N, the first shift you will feel is going into second, next shift going into third, THIRD shift you will feel is going into 4th (OD).
Do you have the lockup converter wired to work?

Please explain the 'lock up' converter. It has a Lokar shifter and a 2800 stall converter. Is that what you are referring to?

Is the converter a "lock up" type or a straight converter? The 700 normally comes with a lockup converter. Did you buy the trans and converter together? From who? If you are un-sure, you need to contact them to see what they sold you to be on the safe side.
