700R4 transmission install

A couple of months ago I have purchased a 700R4 transimission from Bowtieoverdrives for my '57 Chevy to replace the Turbo 350 it currently uses. I haven't installed it yet because of time but, also, I want to perform some tests and collect some real life data from the 350 then perform the same tests on the 700. Also, I'll be documenting the install to illustrate the real world versus the paper world.
I'll let you all know the details when I'm finished.

Which one did you buy?

I will be buying a level 3 from them after the 1st of the year...let me know how it goes with the installation kit (press and temp gauges specifically.)

700R Trans

I bought the whole shootin match (trans, converter, X-member, gauges, etc.). I already had a gauge set but forgot to tell them not to send me one so if you need one....
Anyway, I'll post all the details, with test results and installation problems.

set up

One of the most important areas is the cooling capacity.
Get a large external cooler with a pusher fan.
Install new cooling lines.
I use 5/16 steel brake line. The one with the steel coil on the outside. The added coil keeps it from contacting other metal parts and rubbing a hole in it.
They come in various lengths and can be bent very easily without kinking.
A 4ft' section will do one line.
The next area is proper adjustment of the kd cable.
Follow the instructions to the letter.
Then read the letter again.
Above all don't get slap happy.
Take your time and do it right the first time.
Rossa ruck.
