700R4 transmition problems

I have a 1991 S10 4X4, it used to have a 4.3litre V6, but got tired of it. So i yanked it out and replaced it with a Rebuilt 305 from a 1987 GMC. the transmition stayed where it was. about 1500 klm's later the 3rd gear stopped working, it sounds like it is in neutral. 1st and 2nd work fine. Dose anyone have any clue what is wrong? and is it a quick and easy fix, on a minnimal budget!

I also changed the 2 barrel throttle body, to a 2 barrel carberator. can this be a probblem?

Thanks for any help! Grant........

Welcome to Hotrodders.
The most common thing that gets glossed over during a transplant like you did is the TV cable installation and adjustment. There are several threads here and on other boards addressing the TV cable in detail. Do a search on this board for 700R4, TV cable, etc.

Also do a google search of the internet for the same words.

With all that said, yes you may have a problem with the 2BBL carb if the TV cable connection point isn't in the correct relationship to the throttle shaft and adjusted correctly.

Give us some more details of the problem if you can. It would be my guess that 3-4 clutch is burnt. What is the condition of the fluid?
