700r4 tv cable

I have an '83 z28 with a '67 327 engine and dual holly 650 carbs. The car still has the stock 700r4 transmission. I bought this car from a friend who had had the motor put in. I noticed in moving it around my driveway that the tranny seemed to be slipping a little. In further investigation I noticed the there was no tv cable hooked up on the car. My question's are would the missing cable cause this delay in going into gear and slipping, And is there a special way I have to hook up the cable due to there being too carbs. i would appreciate any input... Thanks

Yes the TV cable will cause major problems since this it what controls the trans pressures do not try and drive the car without one you will toast the transmission! Many people make the mistake thinking that it is a kickdown cable which it is not There are many good post about doing this set up and there are several vendors that sell kits to hook up to different intake combinations one of these I like is bowtieoverdrives.com.
