700R4 TV cable help needed
I'm making a custom installation of a 700R4, my question is how the TV cable should operate, is it like the TH350's that must be fully pulled when the carb's is at WOT and fully released when at idle? I heard that if wrong it will toast the tranny.
thanks. Augusto. |

Wildman hit it rite on the head .The cable must be fully extended @ WOT and at its fully retracted position at closed throttle ,on a 350 the cable is a detent cable pretty much used for forced down shift .On the 700r4 it is regulating oil pressure in relation to throttle position {engine load}and if it is in the wrong place at the wrong time to often bad things happen ,that's the reason you don't adjust the cable to change shift points .

should the leverage be made directly progressive? meaning that at the throttle's mid position (45 degrees plate opening) the cable should be in the exact middle of it's travel range and so on?

Same basic adjustment as a t-350 for the WOT point... A t-350 cable often had slack with the throttle closed. A 700 cable can not have slack at idle.
