71 c10 350 blue /white smoke

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and would like to ask your opinion on my truck. What might cause a blue/white smoke from the exhaust when I rev the engine or get on it going down the road? Doesn't smoke steady at idle. Thanks for any advice you all may have.

welcome to the forum.

Blue could be oil and white could be water.I would start looking in the cooling system. How well does the engine run?

Thanks for answering Vinnie, it runs really good. Just getting done with the break in on a new cam. Temp runs at 180. Does go up to 190 when sitting idle for quite a while. Oil pressure runs around 40psi, varies. Really goes down the road good. Just been noticing the smoke more and more lately.

some ring sets need a little encouragement to seat.Follow standard break in procedures and now is the best time to be hard on it.If there is a problem,it will show in the first couple hundred miles.Do a bolt torque check as soon as you can

Just replaced the cam Vinnie, nothing on the bottom was touched. Not to say that it's not something to do with the rings... Gearheadslife, your saying that it could be the valve seals/guides? It did sit for four years after a supposed rebuild and was ran a little just before I got it. You never know what you're getting for sure I guess. He told me it was fresh, but after having it a month I had to put a cam in it. Heard a tick and ended up with a lobe wiped off. Well thanks for all the feedback gentleman, I'll see what I can do and get back with you and let you know what it was.
