71' Chevelle starter actuating rod adjustment

How do I adjust the actuating rod so my starter switch is making contact?
(lights work, plug at the base of the steering column looks good, good ground)

The actual switch bolts to the steering column, there should be a small amount of adjustment...... if you remove the switch you can insert a small screwdriver and slide the switch thru the start position and make sure it's the rod.....it might be the switch, or the Netural Safety Switch, or the purple wire from the NSS to the "S" terminal on the starter
