71 chevrolet c10

i have a 1971 Chevrolet c10 truck with a original inline 6 and a powerglide transmission does anyone no what kind of differential I would have since im thinking of putting a v8 and a turbo 350 trans in. thanks

All of the '71 Chevy trucks had the 12 bolt rear end. Strength is not a problem.

Probably a 3.73 or 4.11 with the 6 cylinder. The only way to know for sure is to remove the cover and check.

pass side axle tube will have a code stamped in it..(front )

I installed a 12 bolt truck rearend(similar to the car rear, but smaller pinion bearing IIRC) it had the 8.875 8-7/8" ring gear. When I got stock it had 3.07 gears in it. It bolted right into my 84 Sierra, but I needed that non-stock pinion seal in order to use my 10 bolt yoke on it.
