71 Datsun

Truck got dropped off last Sunday. Deposit was left the week before so I had most parts available when it was dropped off.

Not pictures are the valves and air tank. A few things are still in transit.

Plans are as follows:
Toyota axle
Toyota front clip (stock suspension is worked and parts are hard to come by, also Toyota's have better geometry and more usable travel)
Formed sheetmetal upper arms
Tube lower arms
Bilstein shocks all around
Contitech 2500 up front
Firestone F9000 out back
Gravity Werx 4-link
Traditional bodydrop to the rocker
No bed floor
14" steel wheels with white walls

Made notches, and upper bag cups for the back. Pulled the bed. Some genius in the 70s decided it would be cool to attach the gas tank to the bed floor.

Then installed the notches.

Narrowed the Toyota housing 2 inches (1" per side).

I plan on putting a shear load gusset on the bottom of the welded joint for added strength.

I average about 3 months. Right now I've only got about 2 months waiting list, but I have multiple projects right now (couple bikes) and sales are doing alright. I am moving into a shop on July 1st though. I get the lease to look over next week, and have it wired up next month for 220.

Thanks man.

I modified the Suicide Doors behind and under brackets to bring the bag closer to the axle, and also use a smaller bag plate that fit the F9000 bags better. They will also double as the lower link mounts now.

Built the simplistic compressor mount, where two compressors will mount in the same location. One on top and one on bottom of the plate.

And mounted the Wolo air horns, which are very loud.

Good luck with the shop, T.M. I guess some day we'll get to say "I knew that guy back in the early 2000's before he was famous"...

I hope I don't become famous. Then I won't get anything done. I'd like to just be "The guy enough people know about to keep the doors open."

When your work looks like that, word is going to get out. You're going places in a hurry, TM. Good luck with the shop, and don't forget to keep having fun!

Not much to report. I got swamped with orders right before the weekend and got caught up today so I messed with it for a few hours.

Tomorrow I have to go pick up my '54 F100 and move it back home for the next few weeks, so not much will happen tomorrow either.
