71 rear differentials

how do i figure out what differentials i have its either limited-slip or open and i dont know how to find out or figure it out!?!?

Well, you didn't say what you are working on, so I'm assuming that this is a '71 Chevy truck, probably a 12 bolt. Next time please tell us what you are working on. The ONLY way to tell what is in it is to remove the cover and look inside. I'm sure that someone is going to say that you can jack it up and spin the wheels, but this is very unreliable. Just remove the cover and look inside.

This is very true, You can jack them up all day long and spin the wheels but if something is wrong inside then you can be decived.JMO
