72 C10 Mirror

I have 72 c10 and where the mirror stem mounts to the door got caught on a house at the car wash now the screws will not stay tight any idea how to fix???

you may have to go to a larger screw. JMO Try to find one with a smaller type head on it. and don't go crazy when tighten it down ok.

Molly fasteners are made in a very short length for sheet metal..fixed a lot of those truck mirrors in the past..

Riv nuts

In the factory They used riv- nuts, I saw them in Harbor freight , the good ones are carried by aircraft supply companies. An unapproved fix done in the factory was to bend a piece or 2 of 14 or 12 gage sollid copper wire in a minature U shape, slip it in the hole, one leg in and one out and then put the screws back in.

i had no about riv-nuts wow thats bad *** thanks this will be perfect and will look good...
and im a helicopter mech im sure that our airframes shop has some thanks

I have had my mirrors caught on a "house" at the car wash to. House is German for hose. LOL.
