727 output shaft spline

Hi All,
Does anyone know if the output shaft is the same between a 2 wheel drive 727 and a 4 wheel drive 727? A friend of mine has a chance to pick up a fresh rebuilt 2WD trans and needs to put it in a 4WD pickup.

Thanks,
Chris

You'd have to tear it apart in order to change shafts.
Last piece out, first in.

Thats what i was thinking, just wanted to hear it from someone else.

The 2WD shaft would be too long due to the extension housing (i know it would be removed to adapt to the transfer case). 4WD would have a shorter output shaft. That sound right?
