727 problem - PLEASE help

Please help diagnose my tranny problem.

I have a 727 in a 1977 Ramcharger. Full time 4WD, 440 engine, basically stock.

It does not want to go into gear or shift and it will not shift manually. The problem seems to get slightly better when it warms up. Whenever I checked the fluid it looked like many bubbles in it.

The Ramcharger sat for several weeks without running.

I would appreciate any and all help because I know nothing about it.

Thanks!

Take the pan off and change the filter and fluid. Sounds to me that the filter is clogged, or maybe, it fell off and isn't picking up the fluid.
Worth a look.

If you pull the pan and find that the filter is plugged, you are wasting your time and money putting the pan back on. If you plug a filter in a Torque flight trans, you have some serious problems. Since the valve body sits in the pan on that trans, it is highly unlikely that the filter being off would cause you any real problems. Have had several fall off when the pan was removed. They were driven in the shop for PM services. I would be more inclined to believe that there is something mixed with the trans fluid or the level is actually too high. Check the fluid with it warm and trans in neutral, not park. You might try a different dip stick, if you are not sure if it is the original.

As I have stated numerous times before. Changing the fluid and filter, by itself, will not correct a trans problem. That is unless the only problem is low or high fluid level. It is about the same as changing the engine oil because it won't run, or knocks.
