727 Torqueflite Problem

I have an A727 behind my early 331 Hemi and have rebuilt the trans and installed a TransGo kit.
Initial lockup of the trans was traced to having insufficient clearance in the rear clutch pack.
This has been since rectified and all seems well except for it going into stall on the converter when in park!!

Any help would be appreciated

Not quite sure what you mean..... can you describe what is happening? Is the rpm climbing, or the engine loading, ect.

727 Torqueflite Problem

Hi,
The engine loads as if trying to drive against the park brake sprag and the car torques up.
Regards,
Quickhemi

DOES reverse works correctly or does it bind up / not want to move easily???

IF reverse is OK , you have a problem in the valve body or a cross leak in the pump stator area.

IF reverse binds up then the forward clutch is the problem area ....... incorrect clearance, burned up & stuck frictions, cross leak , valve body problem.

I wish I could be more specific. I'd pull the v-body and revisit the TransGo kit install very closely

re: 727 Torqueflite Problem

Thanks Crosley,
Reverse is fine.
I will drop the pan and check out the valve body.
I have another stock valve body that I may try to see if it works OK.
