73 buick 225 electra

i bought a 73 buick electra a month and a half ago.the car is a four door and fully intack though it needs work.i use it as a daily driver and have already put 800 miles on it since i bought it.the interior is worn and the top of the car has the paint peeling because the previous owner had it repainted and it sat for a year in the sun while he was in iraq.it has 67k miles and it runs great for a stock 455 with that many miles that has only had the heads converted to unleaded.

when i first got it the car ran really ritch,i mean i could create a smoke cloud by hitting the gas,and the engine wouldnt accelorate past a quarter throttle cuz it ran so ritch.since then i completely rebuilt the quadra junk and replaced the whole ignition system, and after all that it still ran ritch and backfired and sputtered.shortly after i disconnected the air pump and it no longer ran ritch and no more back firing,im still trying to figure that one out,it makes no sense whatsoever.

ive been looking at rebuilding the engine once i get the rest of my bonus.i absolutely love that car, everyone calls it the beast and ive had cops pull me over to ask if ill sell it.the engine runs perfect after the tune up but i want more mpower out of that 455,not enough to break stuff but alot more than what it has.

i want some opinions on available upgrades and how far i can take the engine while keeping it a daily driver.

I'd call these guys, tell 'em exactly what I have and let them tell me what to do with it. They are the long-time Buick experts.
