73 Buick 455
I'm new here this looks like a great place for to get good info. I have had many Buick's; actually 8 so far. 4.1l Turbo LeSabre Sport Cpe. It was my aunt's who bought it new in '79 and I bought it off her in '85. 350's & 455's Stage1 and non-Stage1, Hi-Comp340, 401, 425 and 430. My question is this: My mom had a '73 Electra 225 2dr Sport Cpe. For the engine designation on the radiator shroud it had 455M-4bbl. Where did that fall in the 455 family line-up? Was that in between a standard 4bbl and a Stage1 or in between a Stage1 and a Stage2. This car would haul a@@! It could light up the rear snow tires (L70-15) @ 30 mph! I have seen maybe 3 or 4 in a junkyard but only for '73 in the Electra 2dr models. All I could find out about the production run was an est of about 6,700 units for 2dr; no specs for Sport Cpe and no breakdown for the engines. Is the 455M more rare than a 455 Stage1? Is it better/worse? Ridiculously, this is the stupid kind of stuff that wakes me up in the middle of the night. Any info would be appreciated.
