Not sure about the camaro
but my 79 Chev 1/2 has only the dash #
There was the glove box and door stickers---but they are no longer there.
I have had everything but the cab off of this truck and have seen no #s anywhere. This is not to say they aren't under the cab on a frame rail.

But that would not apply to the camaro----subframe is a service item, and I have never seen a # on a subframe.

Ditto what Bryan said. The only place I know of to find the VIN on my 70 Nova is the three places already mentioned: Glove box, door, and dash. The only one still legible on my car is the dash.

There should be partial VIN numbers by the heater blower motor and the underside of the package tray.

i've also read that GM stamped the frame rail in the back by gas take inside of rail not sure about camaro's or novas or other F body GMs, but on other GM's it on the drivers side inside frame rail, seen pic's in the magazine showing it but not sure of F-body GM's.

F-body cars don't have full frames.

Got it. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I will say that I've seen numerous VIN derivatives hidden on all 68-up GM cars. They are often covered with undercoating, paint, or rust, but they're there. As noted above, on the firewall below the heater box and on the rear frame rails are the two places I've seen. On the full frame A-body cars, the frame stamp is usually on the top of the driver's side frame rail, on the section behind the rear axle. Again, rust and undercoating make this one tough to see, even with the body off the frame.

I am here Brian.I found it a few months after I posted.It is stamped on the firewall but impossible for a vehicle-inspector to check.The whole right portion of the air conditioning system would have to be removed by the firewall,including the wheel tube,exhaust manifold,heater hoses and other bits.Ideally even the right fender would have to be removed.
The VIN is along side that big rectangular opening found on GM cars.Very well hidden!
