74 Chev Truck windshield replacement

I need to replace the windshield in my Chev truck. I plan on using urethane to seal and adhere the glass to the gasket. Should I also use urethane to adhere the gasket to the truck body?

I am no expert on glass installation, but have done a few. First thing, get a good windshield sealant that remains pliant. 3M makes a good one. This comes in a tube and you need a caulk gun. I run a light continuous bead in the glass channel and install the glass and seal in the opening. Hope you know how to do the old rope string trick. After it is in, I then add a liberal amount of caulk around the outside between the seal and metal opening. I press around the rubber to force out the excess sealant, and use a bondo spreader or similar non scratching tool to transfer the bulk to paper towels for disposal. Then I use kerosene and rags to clean up the rest. Soap and water will remove the oily film.
