74 Corvette Brakes Fixed
Thanks to all who tried to help me. Turns out my problem with low pedal and no rear brakes was not a hydraulic problem. Today I found a guy in Cincinnati Oh. who solved the problem in about 2 minutes. When I explained what I had been through he immediately said that a 74 vette has a bendix vacuum booster and he thought that my reaction disk was probably not installed or fell out after the Corvette parts place rebuilt the booster.
He was exactly right and I will add that I have reveiwed this problem with all the big time Corvette brake people and none of them had a clue as to what was wrong.
The reaction disk is a little rubber disk about the size of a quarter and is .230" thick less than a 1/4". The disk installs between the rod that goes into the master cylinder and the booster. When you add the geometry and math to this equation the disk "adds" raises the pedal off the floor another 2" and I now have perfect brakes.
This fellow is booster rebuilder and really knows his brakes. If you need a booster his company is Partco Automotive, Gary Price (513) 471-9723.
Thanks again Gary and to all of you who had suggestions.
