Normally any gauge has to have 12v+ to one side marked with a + or i for ignition , and S which is for the sender and a circuit for the illumination of the gauge connected to interior light circuit. The easiest way to check back through the wiring for power loss is with a simple 12 v pen. Its sharp enough to probe the wiring. You can dab superglue where you puncture the insulation on the wire.
