'77 BBC into '95 truck compatible?
Can a '77 454 long block be used to replace the aging TBI 454 in a '95 Chevy 2500 pickup? I understand there are some cooling passage incompatibilities between certain "generations" of BBC's, but I don't know all the gory details.
The fuel injection is to be retained, and the old engine will get a new TBI camshaft when it's rebuilt, so as not to confuse the computer. Register now (free) or login to remove ads |

I know of no incompatibilities between the Mk IV and the GEN V intakes, as far as how they bolt up.
But there's the possibility of a port mismatch between peanut port heads and the standard oval port heads. But other than that, you should be good to go. |

The TBI BBCs just used an adapter plate to bolt the throttle body to a regular Qjet intake. Swap that and all the sensors and distributor. Be sure the cam specs are close to those of the original motor or your fuel and spark curves will be off. |
