are 78 and 86 8.5 10 bolt gears interchangable
I have 2.41 gears in a 78 buick,wondering if 3.42 gears from a 86 S10 will go in. both 8.5 10 bolt.thanks.

the rears are the same if they are both 8.5's. you may have to use the carrier from rear that you use the gear from, I don't know if the 2.41 uses a different one or not.

I've got 3.42s out of an 87 S10 in my 78 monte.Not sure but I think their 7.5 rears.I put te whole diff and gears in.

i was told it was an 8.5 but sadly i got under there and measured distance between bolts an its a 7.5 so are the gears from the s-10, thats a plus, it should work.how u go about doing the math to find out what gear ratio u have
