The way I always remove front spring is with all thead. I use a piece of 1/2" all thread thru the shock mount hole and go down to a piece of 1/2' plate that I put thru the coils.
I have a stop on one side so it can't shift to the inboard side and get out. The stop is I guess 1" from the end. The bar is 2'' wide and I guess 6' long . The hole is near the stop so the spring is pulled off-center. I tighted up on the nut on top untill the spring is compressed an then let the a-frame down with a floor jack. A safety chain around the spring is always used in case of any problems.Once clear of the a-frame, loosed nut until spring is loose.
