79 malibu soft brakes

i have a 79 malibu with a ford 9 inch i am having problems with getting a good pedal i put gm metric calipers on the rear. do i need a different valving or a residual valve. help!!!!!!!!

Are you using the stock proportioning valve? If so, you may have to swap that out for an adjustable valve. The new calipers you put on the rear may require different pressure than your stock units. (I'm assuming that you've done the normal bleeding of the lines to eliminate any air pockets.)

[Edit] Are you using a power booster?

yes i have the stock proportioning valve yet, i have bled the brakes severial times. what kind of adjustiable valve should i look for? the only brake booster i have is the stock one. thanks

Did you put the calipers on the correct sides. If not the bleeders will not be at the top and you will never get the air out

yes the calipers are on the correct side the calipers and the brackets are the same as a IMCA mod. i looked at a couple adjustable proportioning valves and they say there more for turning the back brakes off could i switch the lines and use residua valves
