79 Trans Am, turn signal lever breakage

So there I was, signaling left and steering into position (little left, little right) to make my turn into traffic when snap my signal lever drops dead. It's just flopping around now, I can still turn on the brights but no signal control up or down. I am currently at a loss on how to even begin to solve this problem.

I've got the '78 T/A shop manual and '79 Supplement at home in PDF format. I'll try to remember to grab that section tonight and I'll post it in here. I've broken the stalk off of my '79, but never the switch itself.
