79 Trans Am upper control arm bolts..
Hi, just curious if anyone has a source for new upper control arm bolts for my 79 TA? These are "splined" bolts and it seems my original ones are not holding in the frame when tightened. Can I reuse the old ones even though they won't hold? I have been advised to tac weld them to the frame but I am concerned it will be impossible to get them out with a socket or wrench with the weld bead on the head. any info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.. Jim K. |

There is a chance that the splines in the chassis are worn so they will not catch on the splines on the bolt. Try McMaster Carr on the web as they may have some of those bolts. if all else fails then it is the take the spring out and get a wrench on the bolts to tighten them..Been there done that..
