8.1 marine spec engine swap into a 57 chevy pickup

has anyone attempted this engine swap before. It doesnt have to be vehicle specific but has anyone attempted an 8.1 vortec swap. A web page would help or a link to one. I have what i think is a 57-60 chevy pickup that I have an unlimited budget to cutsomize so im starting to draw up a plan. It has a big block in it now but this is going to be a shop truck that were going to show. I want to nock peoples socks off. I think the first place to start would be the engine. Fuel injected and big power is the way to go. The marine spec 8.1 is 385 ponies with 495 ft lbs of torque. I want to use the cadillac escalade cluster and wiring harness. but i dont think the escalade comes with a 8.1. wow ive got alot of research to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks mike

8.1

I believe your engine is a newer version of the 8.2L/502 short deck BBC.I am working on one of these that also came from a boat.Bore is 4.47",stroke is identical to 454.I think Volvo Penta Marine ordered these blocks with thicker walls, thus smaller bore.

NO im talking the brand new totaly redisigned 8.1 vortec engine. It has NOTHING in commin with the 7.4/8.2 family. General motors sells engines to Mercruiser, crusader, volvo penta, and a few others tells them this is the engine we want you to use as a base for your marine engines. This 8.1 is the replacement for the 454/502. Its a nice engine. Ive ran a couple on a metal stand at the shop i worked at. Very smooth compared to a 454/502. Look totaly different. any comments would be appreciated. thanks
