Post 8.5:1 vs. 10:1 how much will this help

I know its probaly a diificult question to answer but i have a 79 350 with 8.5 to 1 compression if it had 10 to1 compession what would be the power diiference?
Is there a formula?

Theoretically you chould see an increase of 20 horsepower and 26 ft,lb. of torque.

As long as your engine is up to running this compression ratio.

I use more that a straight math formula, I run the car spec through a program called PC HOTROD.

An older engineering book stated that for every point of compression you increased up to 11:1 (for gasoline)you achieved about a 6-10 percent increase. After that it falls to about 1-2 percent.

Agree with the previous, but one thing that it really also helps is the low end response. This makes it feel like more power than it might actually make.
