8" Ford Rearend tube measurement for U-bolts

I am having difficulty in locating proper u-bolts for the rearend that i am using in a street rod build. I feel like i have reasonable knowledge base when it comes to parts, but there appears to be no real clear source of knowledge for locating these.
The original u-bolts have an inner width of 2.875"(2 7/8"). So i order 3" u-bolts thinking they are center to center measurements. Wrong.
When i search u bolt sizes, some are inside dimensions, some are center to center, some are radius (round) dimensions.
There appears to be no standard. I hate to drop $40 on another set that still aren't correct. Does anyone know a specific u-bolt dimension i should look for or a supplier that can help.
The housing actually measures out somewhere around 2.890" diameter. But the 3" bolts are way too wide for the bottom bracket holes. I hate to open those up or try and weld and re-drill if I could just buy the right bolt.
Any help?
Thanks.

I have a local truck spring shop that makes u bolts for me. I tell them what I want and they make them exactly like I tell them. If you have a shop like this around you then you might try them.

Even our little town of So. Charleston , WV has spring shop . If you can't find anything local . We have West Virginia Spring and Radiator that will make anything you need and send it to you . Check the anywho directory online and you should be able to find what you need locally . anywho.com
